Loretta Samaniego

Dr. Samaniego works closely with potential partner hospitals to define critical requirements, mobilize the needed resources, and assure that our solutions are uniquely matched to the hospital’s goals. Her experience as an emergency department (ED) physician, Medical Director, and Regional Medical Director provide her with a unique insight into solving complex operational, financial and political issues within the ED environment. Experience Board certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Samaniego has been a practicing physician for more than 20 years. During her time with TeamHealth, she has served 12 years as a Medical Director with multiple EDs and during transitions of new contract start-ups and 5 years as a Regional Medical Director. She is currently the Medical Director for a Free Standing ED, and practices clinically there. She also assists with business development activities across the country. In 2004, Dr. Samaniego was selected from a peer group of 25 as the Medical Director of the Year at TeamHealth West. She is an active lecturer in the areas of ED management, physician engagement and burnout, and has developed a throughput calculator which dollarizes ED Throughput. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), School of Medicine, Dr. Samaniego completed her residency in emergency medicine at University of California Irvine. She received a master’s degree with an emphasis in hospital administration from the UCLA School of Public Health and has extensive training in leadership, operations, LEAN Six Sigma, patient satisfaction, and patient safety. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter Mia, adopted from Guatemala. She also is a farm animal advocate and works with several animal rescue organizations. She is also an active member of the National Kidney Foundation, and was an organ donor in 2018.
