Mihaela Capra

Mihaela is the AVP of Digital Innovation for Risk Management at Sun Life. In this new role, she has the key responsibility for identifying and implementing focused ways technology, data and advanced analytics to improve the Risk Function globally. She was also responsible setting up a governance approach for the sound management of the Advanced Analytics risk at Sun Life. · Mihaela joined Sun Life in February 2016 as the AVP, Model Risk Management. In this role, she was responsible for independent oversight, monitoring and reporting of Model risk, EUC risk and advanced analytics/AI risk at a global level and ensuring strong risk governance is in place. She was also responsible for the Model Vetting Unit charged with the validation of high risk models used throughout the organization. · Mihaela has 15 years of experience in the financial industry in the first, second and third line of defense roles covering Modeling and Risk. Mihaela built experience in Asset management, Credit/ Market/ Counterparty risk, Enterprise Stress Testing, Data Mining, and various other quantitative areas. Mihaela holds a Master of Science in Mathematical and Computational Finance (with honors) from the University of Montreal. Mihaela volunteers for professional associations and for not-for-profit Boards.
