Sourojit Bhowmick

Sourojit (Jit) Bhowmick, PhD is Head of Pipeline & External Innovation Communications at AbbVie, where he leads strategic communications for the company’s global R&D pipeline and business development partnerships. Trained as an immunologist, Jit specializes in shaping long-term scientific narratives that evolve alongside drug development, from early discoveries through clinical milestones and regulatory inflection points. His work focuses on translating complex science into clear, credible, and durable stories that drive visibility, understanding and confidence in AbbVie’s R&D pipeline across a diverse audience including clinicians, investors, media, patients, and future talent. Jit has extensive experience across the full spectrum of biopharma communications spanning corporate communications, media strategy, medical affairs and publications, investor relations, business development, and advocacy. Prior to AbbVie, Jit served as Head of Oncology Communications and Advocacy at Alkermes, built integrated communications programs for emerging biotech companies including Agenus, and counseled global pharma clients on scientific storytelling and data positioning at Weber Shandwick. He began his communications career focusing on medical communications and promotional medical education. Jit holds a PhD in Immunology from Univ of Connecticut and performed post-doctoral research work as a fellow at Yale School of Medicine.
