Dr William Carroll currently serves as the Chief Pharmacy Officer and VP of Network Pharmacy for Hackensack Meridian Heath, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive integrated health network. In this role, Dr Carroll provides strategic and operational oversight for the pharmacy division that supports 18 hospitals and over 500 patient care locations. As a young and rapidly growing health-system, HMH’s pharmacy team is focused on system harmonization, strategic planning, and resource optimization to achieve consistent quality, safety and affordability goals. Prior to his arrival at HMH in Sept 2022, Dr Carroll served as the System Vice President of Pharmacy Services for Rochester Regional Health (RRH). In this role, Dr Carroll was able to create a Pharmacy Service Line to provide comprehensive pharmacy services in the acute care, long-term care, ambulatory care, outpatient community, and home care spaces. Some of his greatest accomplishments were increasing underrepresented minority leadership in pharmacy from 4% to 35% and achieving nearly $20M of cost-savings for the health-system in less than 2 years. Dr Carroll came to RRH from Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation's largest integrated health-systems, where he was National Vice President of Acute Care & Infusion Pharmacy programs, which included 42 medical centers, 150+ infusion pharmacies, and 13 home infusion pharmacies. He lead efforts for consistent and standardized care and member experience across the program, Dr Carroll’s educational journey included studies at Southern Adventist University, Ball State University, University of Louisville, Butler University and Purdue University. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University and completed a pharmacy practice residency with Indiana University Health (formerly known as Clarian Health) in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr Carroll is passionate about health and wellness, DEIJ, and leadership development. His greatest desire is to create as many people-loving leaders as he can in his tenure while ensuring diverse representatives are present at the decision-making table.
